Our transition to P1 project – Jack and the Beanstalk

For the past three Tuesdays we have been working on a Jack and the Beanstalk topic with the Primary 1 classes as part of our transition project. We have gathered together in the P1 classroom to listen to stories and watch animated videos of the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. Over the 3 weeks we have participated in retelling the story using puppets, creating a beanstalk using mixed media and planting a seed. During this project we have met some of the children who will join us after summer and have started to build friendships with the current P1s. We have all been confident to sit with the P1s and some of us have responded to questions posed by the P1 teacher. Over the next couple of weeks we will meet and spend time getting to know our future P7 buddies through sessions on the play ground/ playing field and at our Wee Green Space. With each of these transition experiences we are becoming more confident and ready for the next step in our learning journey. Feedback from the children has been very positive (please see display in Nursery cloakroom) and we will provide further opportunities to discuss our thoughts on going to P1 and talk about any worries or concerns.
